Get started with Komment™ in 5 minutes

Only three steps are needed

In this short tutorial we will show how easy it is to install and configure Komment™ and have a fully working writeback solution. The overall steps that we will go through are:

1. Install extension
2. Adjust load script
3. Configure in UI

We will go through each step below at a high level but if you would like a more detailed description you can also jump right-into Komment™'s user guide here.

1. Installation of Komment™ is easy

This will a very short section as it only requires to actions

1. Import the extension from the Qlik Management Console (QMC)
2. Open a Qlik Sense app from the hub and drag the Komment extension from the Custom Objects menu onto the sheet

2. Make minimal adjustments to the load script

Open the data load editor in your app and do the following:

1. Find an existing data table for which you want your Komment fields to be related to
2. Insert new lines for each of these fields using the following notation null() as Comment
3. After you have added the needed fields you reload the application

After the addition of the needed Komment fields the load script for the relevant table will look similar this:

3. The configuration is simple

Now you just need to setup a few general settings and define how the user should be able to interact with the Komment object.

General settings

• Select the mode - i.e. Table, Form or Popup
• Select the relevant table from your data model
• Select the data connection in which you will store data

Configure widgets

• Add the widgets you wish to include for your commenting
• Setup each of the widgets to suit your needs

Finalize setup

Now you just have to press the 'Initialize Data Model'. Komment™ will now handle all the needed script logic and you are ready to go!
